According to the IICRC, there are four different classifications of water damage. Most of the levels are recommended that individuals without the proper PPE (personal protective equipment) to avoid.

The water from a backup of sewage drain into is classified as one of the most dangerously contaminated water. It is highly recommended that if you do find water from sewage back up that you immediately call a professional.
